Education
A Sunny Place Learning puts an emphasis on education. Research has shown that babies are born with many brain connections, more than they'll ever use. It's important to nurture these connections and challenge them because if they don't use it, they will loose it. The connections are a lot like a muscle in the sense that if you don't exercise them, they will wither.
It's this reason that we put our focus on education.
We use manipulative's, dramatic play such as dress up and hand puppets, sensory boxes (filled with items like beans, rice, magnets, sand, shredded paper, etc), songs and music, reading, word games, dance, and movement. We also have daily classroom style learning where we focus on a Letter of the Week, numbers, colors, shapes, art projects, memory, and more!
We also offer structured computer time with educational games as well as a science and music program.
